Up to 15 hours free childcare a week available for some claimants

21st August 2014

Doncaster Council is encouraging mums and dads to take advantage of free childcare provision on offer for some two year olds.

The scheme, funded by the government, has been introduced to improve the outcomes of children from disadvantaged backgrounds. The scheme provides up to 15 hours of free childcare a week for families with a yearly household income of less than 16,190.

Councillor Tony Corden, cabinet member for children's services, said, "We want to ensure more parents and carers are aware of this initiative."

Doncaster parents can claim a free place for their child if they are in receipt of one or more benefits such as income support. Visit www.gov.uk/free-early-education for more information about the initiative.
