The Town Centre Market is gearing up for its first festive trading since undergoIng a 1 million refurbishment. Work began earlier this year to improve the area between the Wool Market and the Corn Exchange. The Old stalls have been replaced and a public square has been created in front of the Corn Exchange. At the official opening of the market Mayor Ros Jones announced new free Christmas parking times for the Council's town centre parking areas including on street pay and display bays. This includes the Chappell Drive and Marshgate car parks being free for up to 3 hours for the whole of December, and all Council car parks and on street bays being free from 3pm on Christmas Eve until 8am Monday 29th December. In addition they will also be free from 5pm on late night shopping days throughout December.
