Volunteering Matters

29th July 2015

Volunteering Matters is a national charity funded by Doncaster Council's Innovation Fund to provide a Driver and Befriender scheme.  This scheme helps people aged 50+ who live in Doncaster and have difficulty using public transport to get to doctor or hospital appointments, or even social events.

The service is delivered by DBS checked volunteer drivers who can enable older and vulnerable adults to maintain their health and independence. The scheme provides companionship to people who may be lonely and socially isolated.

A monthly social event is also held is also held at Hatfield Woodhouse Village Hall on the last Friday of every month where afternoon tea, a quiz, live entertainment, and a chat can be enjoyed.
